NYPD Officer Who Combines Compassion with Crime-Fighting
Is Named Finalist in AMW All-Star Contest
March 31, 2009 – A New York City cop with a big heart has been chosen by the public as a finalist in the 2009 AMW All-Star contest, sponsored by Sprint. The contest recognizes outstanding achievements by first responders. Members of the public who voted at the America’s Most Wanted website, AMW.com, recognized Officer Susan Porcello’s humanity in a job that often calls for emotions to be put aside.
Officer Porcello has been with the NYPD since 1998. Last July, she responded to a 911call from the residence of an elderly man who was ill. Gasper Musso had no family or friends, but after assisting him, Officer Porcello changed that. Not only did she open her heart to him, but for the next six months, she and her partner provided Mr. Musso with the things he needed to care for himself. And when she learned that he was a retired U.S. Marine, Officer Porcello was determined not to let his service to our nation be forgotten. When Mr. Musso died in November, 2008, Officer Porcello and her partner made sure he received full military burial privileges. In addition, she provided for his wake, the mass and burial at her own expense. Officer Porcello received the Public Servant of the Year Award from Little Italy Merchant Association (LIMA), and the Rocco Laurie Memorial Award for outstanding police work for her demonstration of compassion and dedication to Gasper Musso in Life and Death. She recently was also given THE SHIELDS of Long Island award for Police Officer of the month for her ability, courage and understanding, which have won the respect, confidence and admiration of her fellow police officers.
Susan Porcello becomes the sixth of eight weekly finalists chosen by the public in this year’s AMW All-Star Contest. Any first responder, such as police, firefighter or EMT, is eligible for the contest, and any member of the public can nominate and vote for their favorite first responder online at AMW.com.
Each weekly finalist will be profiled on America’s Most Wanted (Saturdays, 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT on FOX). Through their online votes, the public will choose the grand-prize winner. In May, AMW Host John Walsh will present the 2009 AMW All-Star winner with a check for $10,000 at the NASCAR SPRINT Cup Series™ All-Star Challenge at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Nominations are open at AMW.com until April 4, 2009. Members of the public may vote for their favorite first responder once a day, every day. Finalist voting runs through April 12, and the grand-prize winner voting will run April 16-May 5.

Devon Russell: Smuggling drugs, weapons and illegal aliens is big business along U.S. shores. In South Florida, federal, state and local law enforcement are taking on smugglers; since 2005, more than 30 innocent men and women have died at sea near Florida's coastline as a result of smuggling. Cops are now searching for a key player in the ring, Devon Russell.
Henry Pierre: Just days after an AMW tipster led the Royal Bahamian Police to suspected smuggler Henry Pierre, reports from the Bahamas say that the accused killer and alien smuggler was set free, but rearrested a short time later. The fugitive's initial release came as a complete surprise to cops in Florida, as U.S. officials were working vigorously to extradite Pierre to face charges on American soil.
Rosa’s Story: Rosa is a composite of several real women, just a few of the 50,000 people a year who are smuggled into the U.S. and treated as slaves. These victims of human trafficking are forced into a variety of exploitative situations including prostitution and hard labor. The Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 was designed to protect these victims as well as to prosecute human traffickers.
Patricio Sosa: Human trafficking is an awful crime, but for some it's big business -- and the FBI says when the Cadena-Sosa family saw there was money to be made, they jumped right in. Patricio Sosa was one of the ringleaders of an operation that imported women and children from Mexico and forced them into prostitution in Florida, according to agents -- and now law enforcement wants to put the brakes on this alleged trafficker.
Craig Oliver: When AMW last told you about scammer Craig Oliver, nearly a dozen tipsters recognized him as Danny Sullivan, a construction foreman in Phoenix, Ariz. But police say Oliver was able to slip away before the law enforcement dragnet scooped him up, and they need your help to track him down.
Rafael Cadena-Sosa: Like many young men, FBI agents say Rafael Cadena-Sosa went into the family business. Unfortunately, in his case that business was human trafficking and prostitution, reports the FBI. Sosa-Cadena and his brothers were allegedly part of a ring that imported women and children from Mexico and forced them into prostitution.
James Reimer: Cops in Oklahoma are looking for 40-year-old James Joseph Reimer, who they say took off with 14-year-old Deborah Kalai Fourzan; detectives believe Deborah is in danger because before they disappeared, Reimer sent text messages to Deborah soliciting sex.
Carmela Cadena: Imagine being kidnapped from your home country, held captive in the U.S., and forced to work as a prostitute. Glen Holmes Jr.: Conroe, Texas Police say Glen Holmes Jr. carjacked Barry Thomas, before fatally shooting him in the back. Holmes then proceeded to hold up the drive-through, demanding tacos to go, before leading cops on a high-speed chase.
Michael Bresnahan: He's accused of breaking into a house in a quaint New England town and raping a 61-year-old retiree. But after a year on the run and a manhunt that included six states, Michael Bresnahan's run from justice has ended. AMW spoke to his alleged victim, police and the tipsters who turned him in on the opposite side of the country, in Oregon.
Unknown Tammy Vincent Killers: Almost 30 years have passed since police were called to an isolated beach 20 miles north of San Francisco to investigate a grisly murder scene that centered around the charred remains of a teenage Jane Doe. For years, cops tried to identify the girl and figure out the events surrounding her death, but it wasn't until AMW lent a helping hand that parts of the puzzle began to fit together. Authorities now know that the murdered girl -- 16-year-old Tammy Vincent -- was the girl embroiled in the middle of a state's case against a sleazy Seattle strip club whose owners, cops believe, had her killed for the things she knew.
Unknown Shannon Paulk Killer: AMW recently teamed up with Pauley Perrette, the star of the prime time crime drama NCIS, to help investigators solve the murders of two young girls: Shannon Paulk in Prattville, Ala., and Raven Jeffries in Detroit. Perrette was touched by Shannon's story because of her own family ties to the Prattville area, so she donated a $10,000 reward to help catch Shannon's killer.

Just days after her disappearance, police say that her burned body was found in a field in a neighboring town. Now, AMW is teaming up with Pauley Perrette from the hit crime drama NCIS to help solve the case. Pauley feels a special bond with Raven's case because her boyfriend, Michael, grew up near where the little girl was abducted. The actress has donated $10,000 reward to help find the person who killed Raven.
Lisa Williamson Killer: Actress Pauley Perrette, from the hit show "NCIS," has helped America's Most Wanted hunt two child killers. Now, she's turned to AMW to ask for help in solving the murder of her friend, Lisa Williamson.

Timoteo Rios: When 39-year-old Tina Davila went to a Cricket store in Houston, Texas to pay her cell phone bill, she never imagined such a routine errand would have a tragic ending. Police in Texas are now looking for Timoteo Rios, the man they say stole a young mother's life.
Sarah Pender: Since her expertly-executed prison escape on August 4, 2008, officials have been hot on the trail of Sarah Pender. Now they say she has changed her appearance. Ex offenders who have seen Pender say she has shoulder length amber hair with red stripes. She also has piercings above her right eye and lower lip. U.S. Marshals Service officials have turned up the heat on Pender and made her the only woman on the notorious 15 Most Wanted Fugitives List.
Unknown Tinley Park Killer: Almost a year has passed since the silence of a cold winter morning was shattered by gun shots in Tinley Park, Illinois. As the investigation continues, Illinois State Police are digging deeper into the lives of the six victims trying to determine what could have caused a man to shoot six women, killing five of them.
Edward Salas: On Aug. 23, 2008, eight men escaped from a New Mexico on Aug. 23, 2008. Since then, police have arrested all of the escapees except the most dangerous of them all -- Edward Salas. Before escaping, Salas was set to do life behind bars for the murder of a 10-year-old boy.

Once the fire was extinguished, some shocking details were revealed, and authorities are still struggling to answer all the questions left over from that day.
Liza Gonzales: Liza Monica Gonzales, also known as Liza Campos, is wanted for drug trafficking, as well as murder. She may be in Oklahoma or California, and police consider her extremely dangerous. Call 1-800-Crime-TV if you have seen her.
Joseph Allen Garcia: Joseph Allen Garcia, a man wanted on charges of murder, manslaughter, aggravated sexual assault with a deadly weapon and failure to appear has been named to the U.S. Marshals' 15 Most Wanted list.
Tempe Bank Robbers: For two nights in October 2007, two Arizona families fell prey to a trio of bank-robbing bandits. Both times, the suspects had one thing on their minds: using the victims to gain entry to the banks in which they worked. In the Tempe incident, the plan paid off, and the cash-rich culprits got away with nearly $400,000 -- the biggest robbery payday in Arizona history.
Ahmet Gashi: Kemal Kolenovic was a New York welterweight champion who took one hit from which he'd never recover on New Year's Eve 2006. Cops say a vicious foe, Ahmet Gashi, came at Kemal with some heavy armor, and he's been on the run ever since.
Yasmin Acree: Yasmin Acree is described as a fun-loving and well-adjusted young girl whose disappearance has stumped police in Chicago. She was last seen in her home, headed to her bedroom after finishing a load of laundry. Cops now say she's disappeared without a trace.

Now, police want to turn up the heat on Seraphin for what he is accused of doing to two brothers back in April 2002. Frank Brown: College freshmen are always making new friends, but when a student at Georgia State University started hanging out with fellow freshman Frank Brown, cops say it nearly cost him his life.
Sherry Halligan: In late January 2003, Sherry Halligan allegedly murdered her former boyfriend. After driving around in her car all night, cops say she drove straight to the police station, where they say she confessed all the details of her crime. Unfortunately, after being let out on bail, Halligan apparently changed her mind about coming clean.
David Mancha: David Simon Mancha is wanted for two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault; police believe he is still in Texas.
Tina Loesch: After years on the run, the saga of Tina Loesch and her lover, Sky Hanson, ended hours after AMW aired their story on Nov. 15, 2008. While the couple took their own lives in what cops are calling a suicide pact, the investigation is far from over as authorities in three states search for Kristopher Loesch.

She was a victim without a name but police in the Windy City were determined as ever to solve her case. With the help of a local dentist, Chicago Police identified Jane Doe as teenager Marlaina Reed. You might remember that Jane Doe had distinctive braces on her teeth and it looked like she had tried to pull them off herself. A Chicago dentist and his receptionist saw sketches in a local professional journal and recognized the young girl and the dental work. They contacted police and a positive identification was made. Windy City detectives are now one step closer to solving Marlaina's case, but they still need your help to find her killer.
George Perez: Cops in Baltimore, Md. say a bookkeeper there was not only cooking his employer's books, he was placing bets with his employer's money. Cops in Ontario, Calif. are determined to bring Candido Renteria Peraza to justice for the fatal hit-and-run of 7-year-old Nathan Sitompul. Cops say a drunken Peraza struck Nathan, who was riding his bike at the time. Peraza stopped, but when he saw Nathan struggling to get to his feet, Peraza took off, running over Nathan again.
James Perry
Cops want accused North Carolina drug slinger James Ricky Perry off the streets and back behind bars. They say Perry has been dealing since the 1980s, and not even a stint in the slammer could change his ways.

Police say Humberto Fontanelli and his cellmate David Ray escaped from a Fordyce, Ark. prison on New Year's Eve 2007. Cops picked up Shannon Ray four days later, but say that Fortanelli is still on the run. AMW sat down with Ray and got a first-hand look at exactly how the escape went down, and where his co-partner in crime, Humberto Fortanelli, could be hiding out.

Cops in Arkansas are searching for the unknown suspect who beat a television anchorwoman to death. Anne Pressly, 26, died nearly a week after she was beaten in her home, and as a precautionary measure, cops have distributed pepper spray to local television news personalities who may be targeted as well. Police say the pepper spray was donated by an anonymous donor.
Anthony Forgione
Okaloosa County Sheriff's Deputy Anthony Forgione, 33, was shot and killed by a suspect who had barricaded himself inside a Fort Walton Beach home. Cops say the suspect, Mark Rohlman, was committed for a mental evaluation, but left and hid inside his childhood home with a shotgun. Deputy Forgione entered the home with the Sheriff's Office Special Response Team when he was fatally wounded by the suspect's gunfire, according to police.

AMW host John Walsh and special guest LAPD Chief William Bratton will share the latest developments in the case of “The Grim Sleeper,” a serial killer who earned his nickname after committing at least 11 violent murders in the 1980s, only to resurface and strike again 13 years later.
Walsh will also take viewers to the mean streets populated by the city’s homeless, and ask them to help solve the brutal and senseless murder of John McGraham. McGraham was a fixture on the streets of L.A.’s Koreatown neighborhood, a man who’d been given a raw deal by life but was making the best of it. The community considered him to be one of their own, and protected him as best they could. In October 2008, someone doused the helpless man with gasoline and set him ablaze, leaving him to die in the streets.
AMW has helped law enforcement capture more than 1000 dangerous criminals. The series is produced by STF Productions, Inc., and Lance Heflin is executive producer.

Mongol Raid: Agents from the A.T.F., Las Vegas P.D., L.A. County Sheriff, and Montebello, Calif. police swept into 88 locations in several states in a pre-dawn raid Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008 as part of a mission against the Mongols motorcycle gang. The notorious Mongols have been called a "criminal syndicate on wheels" by one ATF agent.
Cinthya Rodriguez: Kidnap. Ransom. Murder. They're three crimes linked to the disappearance and death of 45-year-old District Court deputy clerk Orlando Duarte, and cops say his much-younger girlfriend, Cinthya Rodriguez, is responsible.
Joaquin Rios: Kannapolis, N.C. police say a man killed his wife in front of the couple's three children as they begged him to stop shooting their mother.
Unknown John McGraham Killer: It's a murder mystery on the streets of Los Angeles. The LAPD is trying to find out who doused a homeless man named John McGraham in gasoline, set him on fire, and left him for dead in front of a community who loved and adored him.

Abdihakim Isse: Cops say bus driver Abdihakim Mohamed Isse is on the run after sexually assaulting a developmentally disabled teenage girl, the last student to be dropped off on his school bus route.

At the end of her shift, a man ran alongside her bus with a dying baby in his arms. He handed the child off to a stunned Snow, but it was too late...the 7-month-old baby's injuries were far too severe. Now, authorities in Sacramento, Calif. are on the lookout for two men responsible for the murder of young Sean Aquitania Jr. who was injured during a home invasion robbery that also claimed his father's life.
Julio Guevara-Mejia: Cops in Davis, Calif., say 35-year-old Julio Guevara-Mejia was so rife with misery following the break-up with his girlfriend, who was 17 years younger, that he devised an elaborate plot to exact his revenge. Authorities say Mejia enlisted a 15-year-old to be his accomplice, however, the murderous plot didn't turn out as planned.
The NorCal Rapist: Since 1991, police believe that one man has been responsible for a series of sexual assaults on women across Northern California. He's been dubbed 'The NorCal Rapist' and since his last attack in October 2006, cops have intensified the search for this serial predator.
Pedro Ortiz: Thanks to insider information provided by an AMW tipster, Pedro Ortiz was hauled into police custody on May 29, 2008. Larry Laudig: Police say Larry Laudig failed to show up for a scheduled court date, and police have no idea where this alleged sex offender could be lurking.
Douglas Adamson Killer: When dismembered body parts began washing ashore in Oregon's idyllic Colombia River Gorge, cops had to not only figure out who their John Doe was, the also had to identify his killer. Luckily, police were able to pull a fingerprint off the victim, a local truck mechanic named Douglas Adamson. Now, police hope AMW viewers can lend information that will help catch his killer.
Leonard Ray Harper: More than ten years have passed since Leonard Ray Harper has fled murder charges and the search is still on. The last lead cops received, in 2005, placed Harper in San Antonio, Texas; police in San Antonio believe their leads have dried up. Tommy Halfacre: Carlos Ortiz Orellana was nearly home when confronted with a lethal predicament. Cops say two men, Tommy Halfacre and a friend, planned to rob Carlos as he was parking at his apartment complex. The situation escalated from bad to worse when Halfacre pulled out a gun and shot Carlos in the head. Halfacre's accomplice has been apprehended, however Halfacre is still on the run. Recent sightings place Halfacre in Nebraska, where he is suspected to be hiding with his family.
Chatyn Byrd: Cops say Chatyn Byrd has been a thorn in law enforcement's side for years, racking up a rap sheet which includes armed robbery and various drug charges. But in November 2007, cops say he graduated to a far greater level of criminality, when he pumped four bullets into another man's body, nearly killing him.
Armando Orta: In pictures, he looks friendly, and on paper, he appears accomplished. But behind closed doors, police say Armando Orta is a monster.
Sarah Pender: She served almost six years of a potential 110-year prison term for her role in a double murder, but Sarah Pender decided that enough was enough. On August 4, 2008, police say she broke out of prison -- with the alleged help of a prison guard -- and hit the road. Now, cops need your help to track her down and lock her up again.

Her co-workers said she seemed sullen when she first got there, but by the end of her shift seemed much more relaxed. At 11:35 a.m., Pat walked one block back home, talked to her mother on the phone at around noon, and then set the house alarm at 1:11 p.m., and left. She was wearing a green or gray long sleeved sports shirt, jeans, white athletic shoes, and a black cloth winter jacket. This is the last anyone has seen or heard from her.

New Mexico Escapees: On August 23, 2008, eight prisoners escaped from a jail in southern New Mexico. Although four men have been caught, four are still at large -- including Larry McClendon, a murder suspect. As the manhunt continues, so does the urgency to put the escapees back behind bars.
Luz Diaz: In 2007, cops say 33-year-old Luz Diaz met a 14-year-old boy on an online, multi-player video game called 'Gears Of War.' But police tell AMW that Diaz took the relationship off-line -- seducing the teenage boy and having sex with him in a Motel 6.
David Allen Weir: It was their sophomore year in high school when Victoria Ramirez and David Allen Weir met. While the relationship weathered its share of ups and downs, cops say Weir's drug use and infidelity was finally breaking the pair apart. Victoria told friends that it was over, but before she could break up with Weir, police say he ended things... with murder.
Ariel Patrick: Police say Jamaal Barras, 20, was attacked by two men with a metal rod and a baseball bat -- and they say the assault was caught on tape. Barras died soon after, but suspect Ariel Patrick is still at large, and police say they believe he's fled to Central America.
Matt Serrano: Police tell AMW that for ten years, Martin Orozco Serrano's 12-year-old nephew withstood his uncle's sexual advances. But cops in Oceanside, Calif. say Serrano's cycle of abuse didn't stop there: authorities say he also molested the boy's two younger sisters and another of his nieces.
Darryl Crenshaw: Rev. William Baskerville tells AMW that he has found the strength to forgive the man accused of killing his stepdaughter, Ashley Peoples, before going on the run. Just days after her murder, William says he received a phone call from Darryl Crenshaw, where he apologized for beating and strangling Ashley. William accepted the apology, because as he told his church, "the God Almighty says that vengeance is mine."
Unknown Ramon Lopez Killers: Sometimes, surveillance cameras are they only way police are able to draw clues from crimes. Cops in Newark, N.J. are hoping some clear footage of a vicious murder and robbery at a local liquor store will be good enough for someone to recognize the two thugs they say are responsible and turn them in to face justice.
Courtney Savage: On nights when the moon was full, a Florida family was awakened by the sound of gunshots blasting their home and their cars, the shooter sometimes firing into bedrooms where children were sleeping. John Pezzenti Killer: On December 3, 2007, police detectives were called to a two-story shack in Anchorage, Alaska, where they found a body, soon identified as acclaimed wildlife photographer John Pezzenti, Jr. With no signs of forced entry or robbery, cops say John knew who pulled the trigger, and they hope that AMW viewers can help solve the murder.

James Watts: Allegheny County, Pa. police are on the hunt for a violent offender. Cops say James Garland Watts burst into the Clairton home of a good friend and opened fire. Now, a mother is dead and a convict is on the run. Now, cops need the public's help to track down this killer.
Jonathan Ramirez: U.S. Marshals and cops in Colton, Calif. are not relenting in the search for Jonathan Ramirez, wanted for the beating death of a 72-year-old grandfather at a local eatery. Cops say Ramirez and his brother, Omar, savagely beat Enrique Bermudez in May 2006 and fled. Marshals captured Omar in Mexico, but Jonathan remains at large.
Tuen Lee: There were few clues to help police target the attacker who viciously raped a woman in Massachusetts -- except for the suspect's foul breath, which the victim immediately recognized. She says the smell could only be from the manager at the sushi restaurant where she worked: Accused "Bad Breath Rapist" Tuen "Dickie" Lee.
Erick Morales: On May 21, 2001, 15-year-old high school student Quetzalcoatl "Quetzal" Alba decided to cut classes with one of his best pals, 16-year-old Erick Morales. The pair skipped school and went to their hangout, a converted storage closet in a Daly City, Calif. apartment complex. But police tell AMW that something went horribly wrong, and Morales stabbed his one-time friend to death before going on the run with his roommate, Reynaldo Maldonado.
